Welcome to Lockheart Community! We're so happy you're considering joining us. Joining an intentional community is a big step, and we want you to feel confident and prepared. Let's talk about what to think about before making the move:

  1. Financial Stability: It's important to have a steady income, whether it's from remote work, local employment, or other sources. Have you checked out job opportunities around here? We're near big and small employers, so there's a variety of work available. 

    Members will be responsible for monthly or annual maintenance costs, so you'll need to budget something to the common upkeep and improvement of our shared resources.

  2. Your Own Space: You'll start with your own self-contained housing like an RV, camper, or tiny house. Think about bringing in your own water, disposing of waste, and how you'll handle your power needs. Life at Lockheart until at least 2026 will basically be camping! We're dreaming of shared amenities, but they're still in the future.

    For most people, this is the biggest consideration! Especially in the next couple years, living on the property at Lockheart won't be easy. Once we have infrastructure built, moving on site will be easier - but will still involve purchasing or building a tiny home of your own.

  3. Emotional Readiness: Moving away from your current support network can be tough. Are you ready to build new relationships and adapt to the change? 

    The local community is easy to integrate into, but you'll likely need to step outside your comfort zone unless you're from the area.

  4. Community Life: Living here is more than just having a tiny home; it's about actively participating in our community. Are you up for joining in and contributing to our sustainable lifestyle?
